Religious persecution of people on the grounds of faith or belief continue to rise around the world. To meet this negative trend, the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB) together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group is hosting an event to promote freedom of religion or belief in Berlin, Germany 12-14 September.
The event will focus on multifaceted approaches for Parliamentarians to defend and enhance freedom of Religion and Belief and consists of two parts: a capacity building symposium for parliamentarians 12 to 13 September followed by a High Level Political Conference hosted by the German CDU/CSU Party on 14 September, to be opened by Germany’s head of government, Dr. Angela Merkel.
The event will gather voices from international leadership, leading academic figures and parliamentarians around the world. With the grave situation for freedom of religion and belief around the world, the Symposium and High Level Political Conference will highlight the necessity to further defend and promote this crucial human right.
