Meet our new intern, Mia!
This month, the Centre for Freedom of Religion or Belief in the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), where the IPPFoRB Secretariat is based, received the student intern from the Faculty of Law, University of Oslo.
Mia is Norwegian and is engaged in the master’s degree program Theory and Practice of Human Rights, an interdisciplinary degree focusing on human rights from legal and social science-based perspectives.
As an intern with the IPPFoRB secretariat, she has been contributing to our work of supporting parliamentarians across the world to drive meaningful change in promoting and protecting freedom of religion or belief for everyone, everywhere.
"It is truly motivating to be part of a diverse, dynamic, and close-knit team that promotes human rights globally. Everyone in the Norwegian Helsinki Committee has warmly welcomed me, and I look forward to learning more about IPPFoRB and the broader work of the NHC in the coming months."
Mia is particularly interested in the rights of underrepresented groups and the impact of religion and belief on society, inspired by previous international work in culturally and religiously diverse contexts. This motivated Mia to apply for an internship where she could expand her knowledge about the right to freedom of religion or belief and its intersection with other human rights.
Moreover, Mia is interested in communication and journalistic writing and saw the internship as a wonderful opportunity to specialize in communications work.
Welcome, Mia!
