Freedom of Religion or Belief in Belarus: IPPFoRB launches Advocacy Letter Expressing Concern Over Belarus's New Law on Religious Organization Activities
Oslo, Norway - April, 2024
As a global network of sitting and former parliamentarians advocating for freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) for all, the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB) is concerned about the recent Belarusian Law on "Amending Laws on the Activities of Religious Organizations". The new law will increase the government's control over many aspects of religious activities, giving the regime control over the religious communities and their affairs. This new law significantly restricts the right to freedom of religion or belief by imposing repressive regulations for religious communities, restricting their engagement in specific religious and political activities.
